Coronavirus Relief Efforts - Pakistan

Medics International Pakistan has been working on multiple fronts, tackling the impacts of the pandemic in the country head-on. In the past several months, Medics International has donated ventilators, a blood gas analyzer machine, and PPE and N95 masks in Nagar, Skardu (Gilgit-Baltistan), as well as provided PPEs to health facilities and medical professionals at institutions across the country. In the month of June, 5000 PPEs were distributed in Pakistan to doctors working in different cities including Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Larkana, Khairpur, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Kohat, Parachinar, Abottabad, Gilgit, Nagar and Sehwan. Medics International Pakistan is also working in partnership with the Government of Pakistan and other organizations in Service Square's Corporate Social Responsibility Project on the massive disinfecting campaign across Islamabad to properly disinfect public institutions and spaces. Medics International Pakistan teams have also been working over the last seven months to address food security and nutritional needs from Gilgit-Baltistan to Karachi, trying to reach those in need as quickly as possible. In Gilgit-Baltistan, more than 2000 families have been provided food assistance, including in severely impacted areas like Nagar, bordering China on one side and Hunza on the other. In addition, 14,000 feet above sea level in Kharmung, food and support was provided to families in lockdown. More than 50 families have also been provided food in Uch Sharif (Punjab), Pakistan and 90,000 bags of wheat have been purchased for distribution across Pakistan. Projected expansions include additional food support in Balochistan, Parachinar, and Kashmir.

Medics International Pakistan has run medical and surgical camps, blood donation drives, and other medical services across the country. Tens of thousands of attendees of Muharram events were serviced by doctors, nurses and other health care professionals in Larkana, Bhawalpur, Lahore and Karachi. Dozens of camps were held across Pakistan, providing much needed first aid, blood donation, surgical and medical aid to the mourners of Imam Hussain throughout the first ten days of Muharram. Medics International Pakistan has also been holding a series of training sessions and webinars. Click below to see the video of Medics International Pakistan's Training Webinar, entitled "Pre Hospital Disaster Management", hosted in October at Medics International House in Karachi, Pakistan. The webinar was hosted by Dr Mehdi Rizvi, Director of Emergency Management at University of Maryland Medical Center. The training was attended by doctors, medical students, scouts, community volunteers and first aid responders.
